The basics

What is Votur?

Votur is a visual decision app. You ask a question with two options — photos, short text with an emoji, or styled text — share it, and people vote. In minutes you have a real answer instead of a guess. A poll on Votur is called a "Duo".

Is Votur free?

Yes — Votur is currently completely free, and it shows no banner or display ads. In the future the public feed may include clearly-labelled sponsored polls from brands — never more than one in every eight feed items, counting all paid content combined — and we may add optional paid features. We'll always tell you before anything costs money.

Do I need an account?

Not to browse or vote — the app starts you as a guest, and voting through a shared link in the browser needs no app at all. You need an account (and an @username) to create and publish your own polls — and for a few extras, like following a creator or a poll's result.

What's the difference between a public and a private poll?

A public poll can appear in the Discover feed and on your profile after passing our automated screening. A private poll never appears in Discover — it can only be opened by people who have its link, or whom you invite directly. Like any link, it can be passed on, so share it with people you'd trust to forward it kindly. You can switch a poll between public and private at any time.

Voting & privacy

Can anyone see what I voted?

No. Results are only ever counts and percentages. Which option you picked is never shown to anyone — not even to the poll's creator. A creator can see that you voted on an invitation they sent you (so they know who they're still waiting on), but never what you picked.

Can I change my vote?

Only if the poll's creator allowed it — "allow vote changes" is a per-poll setting — and you'll need a (free) signed-in account in the app to switch your vote. Otherwise a vote is one tap, one answer, like a real ballot.

Why do I have to vote before seeing the next poll in Discover?

That's the deal that keeps Votur honest: everyone who scrolls also answers. You give one tap of your opinion, and every creator — including you — gets real answers in return.

Sharing

How do share links work?

Every poll has a share link (votur.app/v/…). Anyone who has the link can open the poll and vote — with or without the app, with or without an account. It works like sharing a document link: knowing the link is what grants access, so share it with the people you want to ask.

What are Circles?

Circles are private, saved groups of people you often ask — your family, your team, your group chat. They're visible only to you: people aren't notified when you add them, and nobody can see your Circle. When you send a poll to a Circle, each member simply receives a normal invitation — the Circle itself stays yours. Contacts you add from your phone stay on your phone; our servers never receive your address book.

Can people vote without installing the app?

Yes. A share link opens the poll right in the browser, and voting there is one tap — that's the whole point. One vote per poll per browser.

Creating

How do quizzes work?

When you create a poll you can mark it as a quiz: you pick the correct answer and can add a short explanation. Voters see whether they got it right after voting, and the app keeps a playful running quiz score. The correct answer is the creator's claim — Votur doesn't fact-check quizzes, so make your answer a good one, because people will believe you.

Can I post anonymously?

Yes — each poll has a "post anonymously" option that hides your profile from other users. Votur itself still knows the poll is yours (our moderation team can see it), and all the rules still apply.

Can I close or delete my poll?

Any time. You can set a poll to close automatically after a deadline or a number of votes, close and reopen it manually, and delete it whenever you want — that removes its photos and share images from our servers too.

Will people who speak other languages see my poll?

They can — polls are translated automatically. We prepare an English version of each poll, and viewers in the app can flip a poll into their own language with the globe button (the translation happens on their device). Machine translation isn't perfect; the original text is always the real one.

Safety

How is content moderated?

Every new poll is screened automatically — including by AI systems that check the text and any photos, with extra checks that protect minors — before it can appear in the public feed. Clearly unsafe content is removed automatically; borderline content is held for our human moderation team. Creators are told in the app when their poll is held or removed, and can always appeal to a human. The full picture is in our Community Guidelines.

How do I report or block?

Tap the flag on any poll — in the Discover feed or on a poll's page — and pick a reason; reports are confidential and reviewed promptly. On the web vote page, the Report link opens an email to us. You can also block a person from their profile: their polls disappear from your feeds and yours from theirs, and their invitations stop reaching you.

Your account

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account (type DELETE to confirm). It's immediate and permanent — your profile, polls, and photos are removed from our servers; your votes on other people's polls stay counted but are anonymised. Lost access to the app? See votur.app/delete-account.

What happens to a guest account I stop using?

Guest accounts that go about 90 days without voting are deleted automatically in a periodic clean-up. Signing in with Google, Apple, or an email address keeps your history safe — your guest votes and preferences normally carry over into your new account. (If you sign in to an account you already had, the guest history on this device can't be merged into it.)

The launch

When can I download Votur?

The iPhone and Android apps are in testing and heading for the App Store and Google Play. Voting via share links already works for everyone in the browser. Join the launch list and we'll send you exactly one email — the day Votur launches.

I'm a brand — can I work with Votur?

We're building something honest for brands: one vote that's both advertising and research. Have a look at Votur for brands and join the launch-partner list there.
