Shakespeare's Globe is a modern reconstruction of the original Globe Theatre, for which William Shakespeare wrote many of his plays. Located on the South Bank of the River Thames, it aims to recreate the experience of Elizabethan theatre. The original Globe was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company, the Lord Chamberlain's Men, and was destroyed by fire in 1613. Photo: Diego Delso, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0.
