Correct answer: Lake Atitlán

Located in the Guatemalan Highlands, Lake Atitlán reaches depths of around 340 meters, making it Central America's deepest lake. Famed British author Aldous Huxley once compared its beauty to Italy's Lake Como, but added that Atitlán has the additional grandeur of immense active volcanoes. The lake's unique wind pattern, known locally as the Xocomil, blows regularly in the late morning and creates sudden, choppy waters. Photo: NASA, Wikimedia Commons, Public domain.
