Tashichho Dzong is a stunning Buddhist monastery and fortress on the northern edge of the city. It has been the seat of Bhutan's government since 1968 and currently houses the throne room and offices of the king. Interestingly, the entire massive complex was reconstructed in the 1960s using traditional methods without a single metal nail or written architectural plan.
