Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung is the largest and most famous of the Five Grand Palaces in Seoul. Its name translates to 'Palace Greatly Blessed by Heaven.' While Changdeokgung is a UNESCO World Heritage site favored by many kings for its beautiful gardens, Gyeongbokgung was the primary seat of royal power.
