Every Sunday evening, the atmospheric ruins of the Monastery of San Francisco come alive with the sounds of live merengue, bachata, and son played by the band Grupo Bonyé. Built by Franciscan friars in the early 1500s, the monastery was repeatedly damaged by earthquakes and pirate raids, leaving behind the beautiful ruins we see today.
