The Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge stands at 450 feet tall with 34 stories, making it the tallest state capitol building in the United States. Completed in 1932 during the governorship of Huey Long, this Art Deco masterpiece was also the site of Long's assassination in 1935. Visitors can ride an elevator to the 27th-floor observation deck for a spectacular view of the Mississippi River. Photo: Chrismiceli, Wikimedia Commons, CC0.
