The Ampullae of Lorenzini are tiny, jelly-filled pores located mostly around a shark's snout. They are so sensitive that they can detect the faint heartbeat of a prey animal buried under the sand. The lateral line system, on the other hand, is used to detect movement and vibrations in the surrounding water.
