The Río de la Plata is the wide estuary formed by the confluence of the Uruguay and Paraná rivers. It separates Montevideo from Buenos Aires. Interestingly, it is considered by some geographers to be a gulf or a marginal sea due to its incredible width, which reaches about 220 kilometers at its mouth.
