Robert Wadlow from Illinois, USA, was 2.72 m tall and still growing when he died in 1940 at just 22. His shoes were size 37 in US sizing, about 47 cm long. He needed leg braces to walk, and a blister from one of them caused the infection that killed him. Nobody has ever been measured taller.
