Lapland, Finland's northernmost region, is one of the best places in the world to see the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. Due to its high latitude and minimal light pollution, the lights are visible on roughly 200 nights a year. The phenomenon is caused by solar particles colliding with atmospheric gases, creating stunning displays of color in the night sky.
