Socrates famously used a method of inquiry and discussion known as the Socratic method, or elenchus. He would engage individuals in a series of questions to expose contradictions in their beliefs, guiding them towards a deeper understanding rather than simply imparting knowledge through formal lectures. He sought to make people think for themselves. Photo: Copy of Lysippos (?), Wikimedia Commons, Public domain.
