Ružice, which translates to 'little roses', is a beloved Bosnian pastry. Instead of layering flat sheets, the dough is filled with nuts, rolled tightly like a Swiss roll, sliced into rounds, and baked cut-side up so it blooms like a flower. It is then drenched in a cold sugar syrup immediately after coming out of the hot oven.
