The linguist and theologian Mesrop Mashtots created the alphabet to make Christian texts accessible to Armenians in their own language. Originally consisting of 36 letters, three more were added in the Middle Ages. Today, a giant monument of stone letters stands near Mount Aragats to honor this linguistic heritage.

Authentic Armenian duduks are crafted exclusively from the wood of apricot trees, which gives the instrument its uniquely warm, melancholic, and nasal tone. Other woods like pear or walnut produce a much sharper sound. In 2008, UNESCO recognized Armenian duduk music as a masterpiece of cultural heritage.

The Temple of Garni, constructed in the first century AD, is believed to have been dedicated to Mihr, the ancient Armenian god of the sun and light. It is the only standing classical colonnaded building in the entire post-Soviet region, having survived the Christian conversion and a massive 1679 earthquake.
