Rails were first laid in Postojna Cave in 1872, and today a train carries visitors about 3.5 km past huge stalactites before they continue on foot. The cave is also home to the olm, a pale, blind salamander that may live for more than 100 years.

Four big copper dragons stand at the corners of Ljubljana's Dragon Bridge, built in 1901, and a dragon also sits on the castle tower in the city's coat of arms. An old legend says the Greek hero Jason and his Argonauts defeated a dragon here on their travels.
